The Garden is located within the Gleniffer Braes Country Park, Paisley.  It was historically a kitchen garden for Glen House which once stood within the Park. The house was owned by William Fulton, Laird of Glenfield (Fulton of the Glen) and owner of  Glenfield Scouring Works which were situated nearby.

William Fulton encouraged community access to his estate and held popular open-air concerts. In recent decades the site was used by Renfrewshire Council as a plant nursery but has been unused for some years and had become severely overgrown.

GIG recognised the potential to develop the garden into a productive community garden.  Our organisation has a lease to use the site, which is owned by Renfrewshire Council and has the support of various Council departments and Councillors who are keen to see the land used for the benefit of the community.
